Hanshi Tomasz Piotrkowicz 10th dan received a medal from the European Martial Arts Committee at the University of Rzeszów for his activity and achievements in this field and the title of Expert Professor of Martial Arts. The medal was presented to him by prof. dr Wojciech Cynarski, also an expert in Japanese martial arts. This took place during this year’s scientific session of the Idokan Association, which was attended by physical education experts and martial arts masters from Poland, Ukraine, Germany and the USA. Among the karate masters present were Thomas Casale 9th dan karate from New York, known to Hanshi for years, and Dariusz Bajkowski 8th dan karate (Hanshi’s student during his student days).
Hanshi Tomasz Piotrkowicz also received an award for Japanese master Takemasa Okuyama 10th dan, president of the World Budo Federation Hachi-o-Kai. Hanshi’s old friend and teacher lives in Canada and now has limited mobility due to his activity.
During the Idokan session, a YouTube video was shown about Hanshi’s stay in India and the seminar and series of karate, kobudo, battodo and chanbara training sessions there, together with shihan Michał Piotrkowicz and sensei Michał Polak, entitled „The Spirit of Budo in the 21st Century”:
